Litter Enforcement Grant
Purpose of Grant
The Enforcement Grant is a competitive grant that provides litter control and enforcement agencies with up to $6,500 for the purchase of equipment and resources for use in litter control cases.
Eligible Applicants
Litter control, law enforcement and code enforcement departments/organizations in South Carolina are eligible to apply for these funds.
No organization will be awarded more than one Litter Enforcement Grant per funding cycle. Joint projects are only eligible for one grant award.
All grant recipients will be required to participate in the Zero Tolerance for Litter Campaign. Prior grant recipients who are not in compliance with grant requirements will be deemed ineligible to receive funds.
Application Submission Process
A governing body, such as County, City or Town Council, may administer grant funding.
PalmettoPride reserves the right to reject all proposals and not award any grant funds under this solicitation. Failure to follow the directions outlined in the application guidelines will result in the application not being considered for funding.
Grant Period
The Litter Enforcement Grants are awarded for one year.
Use of Grant Funds
Total maximum funding allowed is $6,500. Eligible grant activities may include any combination of the following:
- Equipment (i.e. surveillance cameras, laptops, binoculars)
- Tarp campaigns
- Illegal dumpsite remediation and removal
- Heavy duty or OSHA materials for litter removal
- Supplies for large on-going litter cleanups (i.e. monthly cleanups, assign-a-highway, community service)
- Litter pickup safety signs
- Conferences/Travel (up to $1,500)
In-Kind Donations
- Illegal Dump Signs (w/o posts)
- Litter cleanup supplies
- Tarps
- Trash bags (PalmettoPride green bags)
Grant Reporting Requirements
All grantees must participate in the litter enforcement related Zero Tolerance for Litter Campaign, held in April.
- Zero Tolerance for Litter Campaign report is due May 15.
- Quarterly Ticketing reports are due April 15, August 15, November 15 and December 15.
- Final Summary and Expenditures report is due December 15.
If you fail to comply with these guidelines or to fulfill your proposed grant obligations, PalmettoPride reserves the right to request items and/or financial reimbursement of the amount granted. Failure to submit required reports shall disqualify the recipient for any future grants.
